It doesn't have a date but as I have owned this for around 30 years and it was bought second hand from an instrument dealer, I am assuming it's 50 or more years old. Made in a Communist era factory in Reghin, Romania (centre of musical instrument making at the time). Sounds lovely when played. In good condition except for a bit of wear around the purfiling (as you can see in the photo). Has lost its C string but comes with other strings, a soft case in good condition and a bow which needs re-hairing but is otherwise in good condition.Possible buyers welcome to try it out in Hove - please contact me to arrange. | William Piper | A chance to own an amazing sounding William Piper C1995 Davidov Stradivari Copy Cello. Back of the Cello is in one piece of "Poplar" wood. Ribs of similar wood. Scroll is of "Maple". Varnish of an antiqued golden red-brown colour. William Piper (Bill) is a master violinmaker who has been making instruments all his working life. Over 50 years he has made and sold 600 Violins, Violas and Cellos. This Cello is one of the only 85 that he has made. This cello has just had a full set-up service by William Piper himself at his violin makers workshop in January 2019. The cello likely to have been made for Cremona House Violin shop in Bristol. His workshop is a hive of activity building bespoke violins, violas, and cellos, and producing instruments bound for the concert platform.
