Budapestini Facibet | This is a 1965 3/4 flamecut double bass. A pretty bass. There is a sticker inside the bass with this name of make. Has a new proper end pin, an adjustable bridge, a realistic pickup together with a new padded case and a gallien krueger backline 80 watt combo with an uprated speaker and leads. Selling as a package. Has been used on jazz gigs ie big bands and smaller ensembles, pit orchestras and studio recording. Has become surplus to me. the scroll has a lions head on it which makes it somewhat different. Overall a nice sounding bass where the strings haven't been set too high. No bow. | £2800 |

German | A swell back German bass from 1970's, initially set up by Turner Violins Ltd with recent work all done by Godfrey Shepard in Brighton. The bass is an ideal set up for pizzicato jazz with Thomastiks and a lowish action. Trying to describe the nature of sound is difficult but it's big, often used on acoustic gigs and has quite a jazz pedigree having graced the stage with Scott Hamilton, Warren Vache and Ken Peplowski amongst others - it's that kind of bass! Only selling due to retirement. Solid body, ebony fingerboard, lovely head, neck very comfortable and playable and light to carry. The attached Realist pick up is also thrown in. | £2,750 |

German / Bohemian | 5/8 German/Bohemian double bass c.1930, unknown workshop (Rubner style). I bought this bass in 2015 from renowned Kln-based Luthier Daniel Kress. It's unclear who made it, but as it resembles Rubner basses of the same period it was most likely made in a nearby workshop, somewhere in the then Bohemian area of Germany. It's unusual size makes for great playability, especially if you're on the smaller side, but the sound is rich and mellow. The repaired cracks to the body were there when I bought it, but the peg repair on the scroll is I'm afraid my fault, and this is reflected in the price. However the repair was done excellently and it does not seem to have taken anything away from the sound. I'm not sure what make the pickup is but it works great across the range of the instrument. Full height = 176cm, Bottom to shoulder = 106cm, String length = 102cm, Upper bout = 47cm, Lower bout = 59.5cm, Width of neck at nut = 4.3cm. You can hear how it sounds here (solo bass and voice): Click Here Get in touch if you have any questions, I'd love to help if I can. Collection would be best but I would consider driving it to you, depending on your location. | £5200 |

Michael Poller | I bought this Michael Poller 3/4 (standard) size double bass. Since we bought the bass it hasnt left the house and has been hardly used so remains in the condition upon which we bought it. Previous description from music teacher/person we bought from: Really great bass for students or jazz/rockabilly. I gigged it professionally for several years before upgrading. It's made in Romania in the early 90s. Makes a great bass for a student or an electric bass player taking up upright - Ive gigged it and it is very light so great for carrying around to gigs etc. Includes a soft case and bow. Has some usual marks from knocks - shown on photos but in very good condition. | £999 |

Reghin | 1/4 Reghin Double Bass made in Romania about 10 years ago. Beautiful instrument in immaculate condition which has been upgraded with D'Adarrio Helicore Orchestral strings to produce an outstanding sound. The top is made of solid spruce and the back of solid maple. Neck and sides are all maple. The instrument has been developed by a local luthier Jonathan Beecher in Oxford to enhance the sound and to optimise playing for small hands - bridge and strings have been adjusted to make facilitate use with small hands. These adjustments really do speed up the learning process. Bass bag included in excellent condition. This is collection only from Oxford. However for a small contribution I am happy to deliver within the M40 Oxford to London corridor or can arrange pick up from South Kensington if payment arranged in advance.
